Written on February 3, 2010 – 12:19 pm | by Kampung Boy |

AIG is on the spotlight again. This time, AIG is paying out US$100 million in bonuses. AIG is already bleeding from their financial products division as AIG has been given a hand by the government. Not much but only US$180 billion bailout.

Although it’s US$20 million short as AIG cut on retention bonuses but paying out US$100 million is still a lot.

SUCCESS (7207) is listed on the main board under industrial products. SUCCESS in full is Success Transformer Corporation Berhad. SUCCESS is the largest low-voltage transformer and industrial lighting manufacturers in Malaysia.

If you want to invest in PENTA, i would rather put my money on SUCCESS rather then PENTA. I made a post on PENTA - You are asking for trouble!

Why SUCCESS? The reasons are fairly simple.

Education Ministry is wrong to drop Squash from MSSM calendar

Written on January 15, 2010 – 9:15 pm | by Kampung Boy |

I am thoroughly pissed with the Education Ministry latest bombshell in the MSSM calendar. The ministry has slashed the yearly budget of RM 6mil to RM 1.5mil for 2010.

A few prominent sports got the chopped such like squash, bowling and archery. How can they make such decisions? We have World No. 1 Nicol David in squash, a bunch of world class bowlers like Shalin Zulkifli and archer Cheng Chu Sian who almost got us a medal in Beijing 2008.

Instead sports like soccer, Sepak takraw, tennis, netball get the nod instead of the elite sports that has been producing world class athletes.

Sports that got the nod :-

  • Artistic Gymnastics
  • Gimrama
  • Golf
  • Swimming
  • Athletics
  • Badminton
  • Netball
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Sepak Takraw
  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Hockey

Sports that got the chopped :-

  • Squash
  • Archery
  • Bowling
  • Table Tennis
  • Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Sailing
  • Softball
  • Handball
  • Cross Country
  • Chess

What so great about LAOS Sea Games Gold Medal in soccer?

Looks like soccer is the only sports indispensable no matter what sort of results Malaysia produce. I for once is happy that we won the gold medal in LAOS but what is there to be shout about? Winning a SEA Games gold medal in soccer does not make our country a respected nation for soccer.

Wasting text payers money on sending the national soccer team to training abroad and producing mediocre results is the story we have been listening for ages. So why soccer is still in the list? We will NEVER be world beater!

Sepak Takraw? This is a joke right? Can’t be true…

Oh my God! Ministry Education has given sepak takraw the green light to be listed in the MSSM calendar. We can’t even win the gold medal in SEA Games la… There isn’t any world class competition for this kind of sports as well.

No honors and no glory but government still support? What rubbish decision is this? Only a handful countries play this sports but we still can’t win and it is in the calendar? Haiz..

Volleyball, Netball and Basketball who?

Who on earth are our national players name? I don’t think many of us know any of the national players in this 3 sports!

Hockey also should be dropped!

Our hockey team has been producing rubbish results of late. Hockey all should be dropped. Enough said…

Squash shouldn’t be dropped

Hasn’t Nicol David done enough for the country? We have Azlan Iskandar and Ong Beng Hee as well who are professional and world class players. Not to forget Sharon Wee as well.

Nicol has been the World No.1 for the past 3 to 4 years and without doubt the best player on planet in the women category.

Archery, we are up and coming

I know who Cheng Chu Sian is. Although he missed out on a medal in Beijing Olympics 2008, at least our archers are world class! Archery is included into our ambitious road for London 2012 Oympics and the education ministry can’t see that burning desire? Does the people inside need a knock on their heads so that they can wake up?

Bowling oh Bowling!

Malaysia has won countless championship and medals in this sports and it has put Malaysia’s name on the world map. Our bowlers are also world class noticeably Shalin Zulkifli. Like that also not enough?

Conclusion

It is about time when Malaysia wakes up from its slumber and make decisions based on merits and not other reasons. If we can’t even make such decision in sports, what about bigger things?

I am sure most of you are angry with such decisions but what can do Malaysians do? Always the top people makes the rakyat blood go up the stairs!

I really hope they will do something on this matter. Very angry indeed…

Genting SP - Lee Kuan Yew paid a visit

Written on January 14, 2010 – 11:35 pm | by Kampung Boy |

Received an email from my remisier about first phase of Sentoso IR that will open next week. Minister mentor Lee Kuan Yew also paid a visit together with Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay to the casino at Resorts World Sentosa.

The first phase of the casino will be opened on Jan 20th and seems to be in good hands.

Minister mentor Lee Kuan Yew toured the Universal studios, four theme parks and some of its hotels together with the Water World amphitheater.

Isn’t this good news for Genting SP? That’s why i am still holding my Genting SP tight tight and not letting it go what so ever.

To all Genting SP holders, fasten your seat belts for the grand opening. You will never be wrong in investing in Genting SP for medium to long term. ^^

Understading The Rat Race

Written on January 12, 2010 – 7:56 am | by Kampung Boy |

Came across Financial Rich blog on his blog post titled The Rat Race. The blog title really interest me and without much hesitation spend some time reading on it.

After reading his explanation on the rat race i couldn’t really understand what the main point of the post. Of course i seek some explanation from Financial Rich and now i truly understand what does the rat race means already.

I am pretty sure most of you have seen a rat running on a round track in a pet shop. The rat will start slow and gradually gets faster and then slower down till it runs out on energy.

If you really think deeper, the rat is still on the same point after running from slow to fast then slow till it stops.

So what did the rat tried to tell us? If we are an employee and have to work for money, we will always be at the same point no matter how slow or fast we run. When we just get our first job, our expenses is not big (The rat is warming up and running slowly).

Gradually as we grow older, we will want bigger houses and cars. To get those, we need to work harder as the expenses are growing. (The rat is running fast).

When we retire, we have not much strength and energy to work anymore. (The rat is gradually running slower and slower).

If you really realize, we haven’t really improve ourselves if we work for people as we will be still at the same point from where we started without realizing it. We huff and puff in the end we are still at the starting point!

So what we should do is get out of the rat race. To run out of the track, one have to be financially free. It is not easy if you want to reach financial freedom. By working a daily 9 to 5 job is not the answer.

This concept according to Financial Rich, he got it from Robert T.Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad and Poor Dad. I have heard of him before but hadn’t got the time to read his books yet.

Anyway are you still on the rat race like most of us? I will be hoping to jump out from that race soon. Wish me luck. I can do it so can you!
