Island Red Cafe scam and cheat money
I told you so. I made a post on Island Red Cafe more like a ponzi to me five months ago to warn investors of not putting money into such Multi Level Marketing (MLM) plans. It is getting more rampant in Malaysia now a days where unscrupulous people try to make easy money from naive Malaysians.
Many Island Red Cafe supporters claimed that they have stopped receiving food vouchers and cash payouts from beginning of the year. One by one the outlet closes and it’s official now as the police has classified Island Red Cafe as a scam.
The benefits were promised to Island Red Cafe investors :-
- Fixed return RM300/slot each month (5% of the investment) for 1st and 2nd year. So, total that you will get is RM7200.
- Fixed return RM150/slot each month (2.5% of the investment) for 3rd, 4th & 5th. So, total that you get is RM 5400
- RM100/slot food voucher will be given every month & will be given for total 5 years which equivalent to RM6000.
- VIP member discount 15%
- Birthday discount 30%
Such business model of taking other people’s money to pay up the higher rank will never work. Same goes as the Maddoff scam where the exact same business model was used.
This kind of business will die off eventually when there is no more new members signing in to join the business. No new members means no money coming in. When there is no money coming in how to pay the previous members? Only way, close shop!
When the business owners closes shop, you can be rest assured he will do the disappearing act of now you see now you dont!
Who to blame?
Malaysia government
I am pretty sure there are many high rank people involved in approving such business. Just couldn’t understand how can such business model being approved by the Malaysian government. Our government should put a full stop in such schemes which cheats poor innocent Malaysians hard earned money.
Strict rules and regulations should be put upon so that business owners are serious in doing business and not ripped off the consumers.
Consumers itself
Why such business is growing like mushroom? Because consumers allow those business owners to rape them inside out. Consumers are just inviting those unscrupulous business owners to come and cheat their money.
When business owners finds out how naive and easy to con Malaysians, of course they will start a business just to cheat your money. It’s like the supply and demand thing. When the demand to make quick money is high, the supply for such business will be high also.
Blame no others but yourself if you get cheated in such scams.
Conclusion
Nasi sudah jadi bubur is a famous malay proverb. You can’t do much and please don’t dream of getting your money back. It is impossible for such things to happen as we are staying in bolehland! If you are in Singapore, there is still some hope of getting something back but not here! Dream on…
Take this is a lesson and do not indulge yourself in such easy money and quick rich scheme anymore. If you dont believe me, go ahead and get rape by those business owners again and again and again…

Even the advertisement seems fishy already

Wah brother Irwan is here in my blog! Welcome brother… Hope you didn’t get caught in their scams. I already smell something fishy from the day they started.
Haiz… I really pity my fellow Malaysians that got caught in this scam… =(

Nobody is caught anywhere yet so far.
A scam means one has suffered a loss, and any other person who is a propaganda antagonist with no loss, but bad intention just to satisfy or achieve his own objectives in commenting or blogging are two different things.
When one educates people, one needs to educate in a responsible and honest way, and not by just gutfeel alone.
To say that one smells or predicts here and there means one is having some supernatural powers. What is one trying to prove? This is also a scam?
In David’s blog he mentioned that:
“After careful investigation by police, it’s officially announced that this business is a scam.”
On 28/10/09 2:39pm, I commented in his blog:
You mentioned in your above blog that:
“After careful investigation by police, it’s officially announced that this business is a scam.”
Could we know where (which newspaper, date, page etc) was the announcement made?
On 3/11/2009 (7 days later), I reminded him:
Reference my question on 28/10/2009 10:04pm above.
Kindly let us know when did the police officially announce the Scam as claimed by you?
Therefore, he has to let as know the quoted authority. Otherwise, this is very bad taste because one should not drag the authority when nothing is indicated by them and also without their permission and authority.
Todate, I have still not read his reply.
I am only interested in impartial and responsible writing, not a “hit and run” type to create disturbance and destroy entrepreneurship of our honest Malaysians.
Neither am I interested in prophesies and feelings for the future happenings which one has no control except God.
Some 10 years ago, a respectable factory (Appl**d M********) at Penang FTZ closed shop overnite, and left nearly 2000 staff who came in the morning to work stranded at the FTZ areas facing no entry and wondering in wilderness. Is that a Scam? So what’s this?
A few years ago a large public listed factory at Prai (N**ko) also closed overnite. Is that a Scam? So,what’s that?
If one changes or renews passport seven months in advance of expiry (because of the immigration practices of six month invalidity), one would find that the renewed expiry date would be one month short of the actual expiration. Now, what should one call that?
There are so many unavoidable things in life where one has to work to survive. Therefore, one has to spin the top to know the scam.
And, one has to take risks, employment as above or the so called Scams because of survival.
If one is to avoid Scams, there is a management maxim, “DO NOTHING”.
DO NOTHING to survive?
No Earning, No Eating, No Scam can survive?
If Eating is a Scam, do not eat. can Survive?
If Selling Membership and Earning while entertaining with Eating is a Scam, then Eat and do not Sell and Earn. Eat what? No Earning, what to eat?
I have learnt a very important practice in life:
Be Honest to Oneself!
Be Honest that One has to survive!
Scam or No Scam, Survival is for the Fittest!
One should not be Sour Grapes and claim to know other people’s lives!
The affected people are their own Chief Judge. Do not nudge or advise that one knows their livelihoods better than them. No advise is sought and there is no need for pre-empt or gutfeel advice.
Time will tell the Scam.
So far the shop and men are still around.
The authority is said to be investigation. So, who are we to declare anything and announce something not declared?
Freedom of Speech has a price. One must be prepared to face the music and the dock, then this is called Freedom of Expression. If one is not prepared, then Bad or wrong ones are also Scams?
I rest my discussion here.

It is quoted here :- http://business.asiaone.com/Business/News/My%2BMoney/Story/A1Story20091021-174937.html
After 9 million being swindled, vouchers and cash payouts are not received by investors, if that is not a scam what do you call that then?
How do you expect such business to survive when they take new investors money to pay out the earlier investors? What happens when there is no more new people joining in? Pay from their own pockets? I don’t think so!

Despite indicating that I would rest my discussion in the earlier comments just now, I feel I have to comment one more time.
I have read your quote above and other similar ones, but I could not find the SCAM statement announced by the Police as claimed by David and others.
The Malaysian Police has not made any statement or announcement, at least at this moment. This is what I want to know from David and others.
Without producing any proof of the Police Statement of SCAM, David pre-empted and made his own announcement without the Police approval. That’s very bad and nasty! Is that blog, blogging and blogger a SCAM? Could one say that the blog does brain-washing and is a SCAM?
The saying goes: “Do not do unto others what you would not want others to do to you.”
Abu Nawas, the Caliph of Bagdad said: “He who dig a pit for his brother would himself fall into it.”
Certainly, the authority could make a statement or announcement when they have finished the investigations and collected enough evidence to prosecute.
Investigation things are not so easy and straight forward as layman thinks.
There must be a locus standi, mens rea, actus rea, documentary and circumstantial evidences to corroborate the reports made.
Once the authority are satisfied, it would take action against the culprits, and we could not just hear justice, but also see justice done.
We have to trust our Police Investigators fully so that they can do their job well.
All statements and announcements in the blog and comments are coming from sources other than the really responsible authority.
That’s what I have been talking about for the past 8 days.
If one is a policeman, he would have a police mind.
If one is a businessman, he would have a business mind.
If one is an employee or a freelancer, there is a long way to go learning the ropes.
The problem is people who are not clever are trying to be clever or worse still, pretending to be clever.
They made serious criminal announcement without caring for reality and safety of others.
Responsible bloggings are just like respectable report-writings and book authorships.
Yes, there are respectable Bloggers and Commentators.
Similarly, there are also Bloggers and Commentators who themselves are Scammers! They cannot wait for reality to be investigated and announced. They must quickly reached out to the masses and project their unfounded intelligence unnecessarily.
This is the common humankind weakness.
How or why, therefrom or wherefrom, the Police or the court or other relevant authorities would be interested and duty-bound to find the answers and bring the culprits or what you call to book.
Conjectures, predictions, back-hittings and what one thinks or not think serve nothing and have no fair utility. More so, they could harm innocent victims of circumstances.
Since the report said the Police are investigating, trust them that they can do their job.
All the heresay or non-concrete remarks and comments are at best confusing to the unenlightened.
They are a sheer waste of intelligence which could be better utilized for the good of fellow Malaysians.
Malaysians are smart people! Believe me, the truth would prevail!
Do one believe that Malaysians are so ignorant, naive and easily gullible?
The answer is NO!

Wow, it’s getting hot in here! So what explanation you have got for those unpaid cash payouts and vouchers not produced to investors?
What explanation you have on Island Red Cafe being closed one by one?
Yeah maybe you are not one of those investors and you don’t feel their sadness in loosing money.
If such scenario is happening then i am pretty sure it is a scam. No other words can describe it. Yes maybe for example out of 5 directors, 4 wants to do business while one has the idea to cheat and swindle all the money. When this happens, it is still a scam.
No Payout + No Vouchers = Scam.Scam.Scam = Scam^3
That’s all i can say. I am pretty sure that those Island Red Cafe is feeling cheated and they feel that they have been scammed!
By Penang Tionghua on Nov 5, 2009 | Reply
Pretty sure = NOT SURE
If sure, then write an OPEN letter declaring the SCAM statement to the company concerned because as a responsible citizen one is duty-bound with a Locus Standi. But, it could be expensive and long.
In the one’s definition of Scam, one has included the folowing scenarios:
1) If a person borrows from Ah Long and could not pay = who scams who?
2) If a traffic summon is not paid = who scams who?
3) If credit card dues are not paid = who scams who?
There are many others cases of the so called scam but not scams by scandals with ulterior or personal motives.
We need responsible, respectable and impartial blogging, not brain-washing with scandals.
One must be clear of what one does.
Do not make life difficult for others by creating scandals.
Scandals are worse than scam???
This is the last of my post, and I rest my case here.
