How to check Air Pollutant Index (API) in Malaysia?

It’s getting serious the air quality in Malaysia as haze worsens in certain part of Malaysia especially places in East Malaysia and also Klang Valley.

In Melaka, the condition is also quite bad. I had no choice but to get on a mask. It not only help me to protect myself from H1N1 but also protects me from the haze.

Imagine that it’s cloudy and looks like going to rain and there’s no sunlight around. That’s how bad the situation is.

I have found a place where we can find the Air Pollutant Index (API) in Malaysia. It gives reading at 11am and 5pm daily.

How do they rate the area is clean or hazardous using API?

0-50 = Good
51-100 = Moderate
101-200 = Unhealthy
201-300 = Very Unhealthy
> 301 = Hazardous

As per 7th August 2009, Melaka has 78 API at 11am which is moderate. By 5pm, it became 104 which is very unhealthy. Damm, i couldn’t go for my jogging. Too unhealthy. Anyway below i provided a link where you can find the API at your area.
