5 noob ways i picked my stock lastime

To be honest, i have known about the share market in my early days already. My parents were kaki share market. I can see them with their TV with the teletext watching it closely all the time.

I guess from there, i started to love or get to know about share market. When the share goes up, i got new toys when the shares goes down, i didn’t get any presents. That’s how it was maybe 15 years ago.

My parents have totally retired from share market. Maybe the market wasn’t too kind to them. I started investing in share market when i was 21. I didn’t realize we can start to invest when we are 18.

Anyhow, in my early days, the way i picked my share is really laughable. I still remember my first stock which was ASIAEP which is listed in MESDAQ (Now has change to ACE).

Let me share with you how i picked my shares lastime and it was so lousy that i didn’t know what i do :-

Name of the company

I picked ASIAEP because it has a company name that attracts me. I didn’t care about ASIAEP’s financial report whatsoever. Just pick it because it has a sexy name!

Friends recommendations

I always will listen to my friends recommendations without doing any homework. They tell me to invest company A and i will follow blindly.

Recommendations from the newspapers

At times newspapers will give good write up about a company. Future projects, future prospects bla bla.. and guess what i will also follow blindly.

Rumours

I will also buy base on rumours. Even from unknown people rumours i will also buy without much thinking

Goreng stocks/Highly Speculative stocks

I used to like those stocks which is in the top volume area which goes up without any reason. Those stocks which is manipulated by those syndicates. I thought i could make quick bucks from it but in the end, i only got BUGS from those companies.

Why i am sharing this is that i hope people don’t follow my footsteps lastime in how i invest in stocks. Trust me, it’s painful. Very painful indeed but i have changed the way i invest.

I am not saying now i am an expert but at least i have a better understanding on how i pick my shares compared to lastime. Isn’t it laughable? ^^
