Journey of a Kampung Investor in search of financial freedom
About a week ago, i made a post on CITIBANK - Is this another chance to average down on CITIGROUP? Guess what, i take it on the chance where i manage to slightly lower down my average on my Citibank.
GENTING SP has been moving up steadily of late. As per today (28/12/2009), it closed at $ 1.24 at one of the highest point it has ever reached.
I was kind of surprised with Genting SP movement of late and i asked my broker at DMG on what’s the reason of Genting SP movement of late. She told me that there were rumors that Genting SP will be getting the license to open their casino very soon.
Will AIG & Citibank be my worst investments? This is one of my earlier post on AIG and Citibank. This 2 companies are badly by the financial turmoil but i still have investment in them. In my earlier post as well, i stated that i have 1000 shares of AIG ($1.28) and 1000 shares of Citibank ($4.20).
This afternoon, i called my broker just for some small chat. Asking her how she’s doing and stuff like that. Cheekily i asked her whether she got any recommendation.
Melaka is preparing to open the biggest Jaya Jusco in Malaysia. Yeah i repeat, the biggest Jaya Jusco in Malaysia!! The grand opening was schedule to open on 17th of December 2009 and bad luck struck.
According to reports, a gas explosion at the food court has taken the live of one person leaving seven injured. This sad incident took place when workers and tenants were rushing to make final preparations for the shopping mall’s grand opening.
The blast at the Malacca Jaya Jusco tore a two-meter hole in the wall, shattering glass and debris over a 25-meter radius.

Below are pictures that i got from my friend’s facebook on this unwanted incident.
As you can see i spend roughly RM 400 a month on eating while my fellow friend Seng Choy from Financial Planning DIY spends roughly around RM 700 just on eating. We can clearly see that eating takes a big chunk out from out income.
Let me share a few basic saving tips where you can try and use to save some money on eating :-
I am pretty sure most of us spend a big chunk of money monthly just for eating. Some of us eat to live while others live to eat. For me, i eat to live.
Below is how much i spend on eating every month :-
Many will be wondering, what on earth is Davis Cup Tennis doing on an investment blog? Anyway, i will be putting Spain victory over Czech Republic in the Davis Cup competition under the Ramblings in categories.
I for one put a lot of interest in this years finals as my favorite player is playing. He is none other then Rafael Nadal. I just don’t know why i don’t like Roger Federer. Sorry to all those Fed-ex fans out there.
Anyway, Spain easily retained their Davis Cup title and winning it for the fourth time out of seven finals appearances.
I guess it is a sweet end to Rafael Nadal season as he had a mixed year in 2009. Nadal gave Spain the early kick start when he defeated Tomas Berdych 7-5 6-0 6-2.
The turning point for Spain came when David Ferrer came back from 2 sets down to defeat Radek Stepanek 1-6 2-6 6-4 6-4 8-6.
The wining point for Spain came from the doubles when the combination of Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez defeated Radek Stepanek and Tomas Berdych 7-6 (9-7) 7-5 6-2.
Congratulations to Spain and Vamos Nadal! ^^
Many people when they retire they will be confused as the money they have saved all the time for their retirement is not enough. Most will have to continue working beyond 55. Of course many of us will dream for early retirement.
I recently heard from my friend that his brother is going to retire in another 5 years time. He is 40 now and planning to retire at the age of 45 and enjoy life. He will be looking to bring his wife and kids to see the world. I am pretty sure many of us is dreaming for that sort of life. But can we achieve it by then?
Million dollar question that many is still wondering. How high could gold go up? It has been hitting new highs week by week. Gold has surged to a new high of US$1226.10 (RM4131.96) an ounce.
I am kind of caught of guard with this rally as i have sold almost all my gold at around RM 115 per gram. I have another 2g in my Public Gold Investment Account (PGIA). Currently the price of gold in gram is around 125 to 130+
To be honest nobody can tell how high gold could go or what is the real value of gold as nobody can predict up or down of an investment. My personal feelings tells me that it has almost reached its peaked. I might be wrong though. Just a personal opinion.
